Day 4: The Mercy We've Received
Reading: Matthew 18:21-35 (Parable of the Unforgiving Servant)
How much has God forgiven you? If we truly grasped the magnitude of our own forgiveness, withholding mercy from others would become unthinkable. We've sinned against a holy God repeatedly—yet He forgave everything when we called on Jesus. We love receiving mercy, singing about grace, but extending it? That's harder. Here's the sobering reality: when we pray, "Forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors," we're asking God to forgive us at the same level we forgive others. Let that sink in. Unforgiveness doesn't punish the offender—it imprisons us. It keeps us chained to the past, unable to move into God's future. The person who hurt you may never apologize, never acknowledge the pain they caused. But your freedom doesn't depend on their repentance—it depends on your obedience to forgive. Release them today. Not because they deserve it, but because you deserve freedom.
