Day 4: Living Wisely in Evil Days

Reading: Ephesians 5:15-17; Colossians 4:2-6

"Make the most of every opportunity because the days are evil." These aren't words of fear but of urgency. We live in difficult times, which makes wise, purposeful living all the more critical. The world offers its own version of wisdom—pursue comfort, follow your heart, live for yourself. But godly wisdom begins with the fear of the Lord.

Paul, writing from chains, didn't pray for release but for clarity to proclaim the gospel while imprisoned. His circumstances didn't dictate his devotion. The guards chained to him couldn't escape his message! This is the kind of undivided devotion we need—not waiting for perfect conditions but seizing the opportunities we have right now. Let your conversations be gracious and attractive. Live wisely among unbelievers. Don't waste time on foolish pursuits when eternal souls hang in the balance. Every interaction is an opportunity to reflect Christ.

Reflection: What opportunity to share Christ's love are you currently overlooking? How can you "make the most" of it this week?
