Day 3: The Power of Obedience
Reading: 1 John 2:3-6; 1 Kings 19:19-21
Elisha was behind twelve yoke of oxen when his calling arrived. He was not on a stage. He was not in a spotlight. He was being faithful in the ordinary. And when the mantle of Elijah fell across his shoulders, he did not negotiate. He slaughtered the oxen and burned the plowing equipment. There was no safety net, no fallback plan, no quiet exit if things went wrong. Obedience sometimes looks like burning the equipment. It means removing the option of retreat so that forward is the only direction left. First John 2:3 reminds us that genuine knowledge of God is demonstrated through obedience, not just belief. Knowing and doing must travel together.

What "plowing equipment" in your life represents a fallback you have been unwilling to release?
How does holding on to the past limit your capacity to fully follow God into the future?
Practical Application: Identify something you have been holding onto as a backup plan that may be hindering full obedience. Pray specifically and honestly about whether God is asking you to let it go.
