Day 3: The Danger of Looking Back
Reading: Genesis 19:15-26
Devotional: Lot's wife had everything she needed—divine warning, angelic escort, and God's mercy pulling her toward safety. Yet she looked back with longing toward Sodom, and it cost her everything. Her backward glance revealed a divided heart. What are you looking back at with longing? Is it a relationship God delivered you from? A lifestyle that once enslaved you? A version of yourself that needed to die? Looking back isn't just nostalgia; it's disobedience disguised as memory. When God gives you victory and moves you forward, honor that deliverance by keeping your eyes ahead. Your past, even when dressed in comfortable memories, cannot offer what God has prepared for your future. The pillar of salt stands as a sobering reminder: what you long for can become what destroys you.
