Day 3: Praise Him in the Middle of It

Reading: Psalm 34:1-8

David did not write this psalm from a comfortable chair. He wrote it from a place of desperation, having just escaped a dangerous situation by pretending to be out of his mind. Yet his first response was praise. He committed to blessing the Lord at all times, not just when circumstances were favorable. Something shifts in the spirit when praise is offered in the middle of the storm. It reorients the soul away from the problem and toward the God who is greater than the problem. You may not have the words today. Find a psalm and read it aloud. Let the words of others carry you until your own voice returns.
