Day 2: But God Changed Everything

Reading: Ephesians 2:1-5

The most important two words in all of Scripture may be these: but God. Before those words, the picture is bleak. Dead in sin, walking according to the patterns of a broken world, following the wrong voice entirely. That was the condition. Then God interrupted it. Not because you had cleaned yourself up or proven your worth, but because of His great love and rich mercy. He made you alive when you had nothing to offer. Grace does not reward effort. It rescues the dead. If you have drifted and feel the distance, remember that the same God who found you the first time has not moved. He is still saying, but God.
