Day 3: Building on the Right Foundation

Reading: Matthew 7:21-29; 1 Corinthians 3:11

A house built on sand does not collapse because of one dramatic failure. It collapses because every small misalignment, every shortcut taken at the foundation, adds up until the storm reveals what was always true. The same is true of a life built apart from Christ. Religion without relationship, words without surrender, church attendance without genuine faith -- these are sand. Christ is not simply one good building material among many. He is the only foundation that holds when the rain comes down and the winds rise. The storm is not the problem. The foundation is either sufficient or it is not. Today is the day to examine what you are building on.

Reflection: In what areas of your life have you been building on the sand of self-sufficiency, routine religion, or the approval of others rather than on a genuine relationship with Christ?

Practical Application: Take time today to examine your spiritual foundation honestly. If there are areas where your faith has been more performance than relationship, bring those areas before God in prayer and ask Him to rebuild them on solid ground.
