Day 5: Amazing Grace -- From Bitter to Better
Reading: Ephesians 3:16-19
John Newton was a man defined by his damage -- orphaned young, abandoned by shipmates, enslaved, and eventually a slave trader himself. He had every human reason to be consumed by bitterness or to inflict it on others, and for a time he did both. But in the middle of a storm he could not survive on his own, he cried out to God. And God answered. The grace that met Newton in that storm is the same grace available to you today. It is wide enough to cover your worst chapter, long enough to outlast your longest season of pain, high enough to lift you above what broke you, and deep enough to reach whatever you buried. You are not too far gone. You are not too bitter to be made better.
Personal Reflection: What part of your story have you considered too broken or too shameful for God to use for His glory? How does the grace described in Ephesians 3:16-19 speak directly to that part of your story?
Practical Application: Write a brief account -- even just a paragraph -- of a moment when God's grace met you in a place you did not expect. If you are comfortable doing so, share it with one person this week as an act of testimony and encouragement.
