Day 4: Choosing the Better Thing
Reading: Luke 10:38-42
Martha was not doing anything wrong. She was working hard, preparing, serving, giving of herself. But she had allowed the busyness of good things to crowd out the best thing. Distraction is one of bitterness's closest companions. When we are consumed with what everyone else is or is not doing, we miss what God is doing right in front of us. Mary chose to sit at the feet of Jesus, and Jesus said that choice would not be taken from her. The invitation is the same for you today. You do not have to resolve every grievance or carry every burden before you come to Him. Come as you are and sit at His feet.
Personal Reflection: What distractions or unresolved frustrations are currently keeping you from experiencing genuine closeness with God in your daily life?
Practical Application: Set aside fifteen minutes today with no phone, no task list, and no agenda -- simply to sit quietly in the presence of God. Read a Psalm slowly and let it be a conversation rather than a checklist.
