Day 4: The Deceitful Heart and the God Who Knows It

Reading: Jeremiah 17:7-10; Proverbs 14:12; Proverbs 21:2

Jeremiah draws a stark contrast between the person who trusts in human strength and the person who trusts in God. One withers in drought. The other bears fruit continuously, roots reaching water no eye can see. Then comes the sobering truth: the heart is deceitful above all things. We are not always reliable narrators of our own motives. We do things that seem right, that feel justified, that look acceptable on the surface -- and God weighs the heart beneath all of it. This is not cause for fear but for surrender. A God who knows your heart completely and still pursues you is a God worth trusting completely.

Reflection: Are there areas where you have been trusting your own judgment over God's clear direction?

Practical Application: Spend time in honest prayer today, inviting God to examine your motives in one specific decision you are currently facing. Ask Him to align your desires with His will before you move forward.
