Day 3: Where Your Eyes Lead You

Reading: Proverbs 4:14-27; Genesis 13:10-13

Lot lifted his eyes toward the well-watered plains and saw opportunity. What he failed to see was that his gaze was already pointed toward Sodom. The direction of our eyes reveals the condition of our desires, and our feet will follow without fail. Proverbs 4 is not a list of restrictions -- it is a father speaking with urgency and love, pleading with his child to avoid paths that lead to destruction. The sin that overtook Lot's family did not advertise itself as wickedness. It advertised itself as abundance. Be careful what you call a blessing when God has not confirmed it.

Reflection: In what area of your life are your eyes lingering on something that your feet should not follow?

Practical Application: Evaluate one relationship, habit, or environment in your life today. Ask honestly: which direction is this pointing my family and my faith?
