Day 4: Gethsemane—The Place of Crushing

Reading: Matthew 26:36-42

Jesus had all power to control His circumstances, yet He chose surrender. In Gethsemane, overwhelmed with sorrow, He prayed, "Not my will, but yours be done." This wasn't passive resignation but active trust in the Father's goodness and plan. Jesus returned to prayer even when interrupted, demonstrating persistent surrender. We need our own Gethsemane moments—places of crushing where our will, our plans, and our control are laid down. What cup are you asking God to remove? Can you pray with Jesus, "If this cannot pass unless I drink it, may your will be done"? Surrender isn't giving up; it's giving God complete access to accomplish His purposes through you.
