Day 2: When Tears Are Your Only Food

Reading: Psalm 42:1-11

The psalmist did not pretend. He described a grief so consuming that tears had become his only sustenance. He named the taunting voices around him and the despair within him. Yet in the same breath, he declared that his hope belonged to God. Being a follower of Christ does not make you immune to depression, anxiety, or seasons of deep sorrow. The pastor was clear: "Being a Christian, you are not immune to depression or hard times in our life." What the psalmist models is the discipline of redirecting. You can be honest about the weight you carry and still choose to recall God's faithfulness in the same moment.

Reflection: What honest cry do you need to bring before God today? Bring it fully, then ask Him to help you recall one specific way He has been faithful to you.
