Day 2: The Heart Behind the Words

Reading: Luke 6:43-45

Jesus teaches that good trees bear good fruit and bad trees bear bad fruit. Our words are the fruit that reveals the condition of our hearts. When harsh, critical, or bitter words flow easily from our mouths, they expose what we've allowed to take root within. The solution isn't merely controlling our speech—it's addressing the heart issues beneath. What seeds have you allowed to be planted in your heart? Unforgiveness? Resentment? Pride? These will inevitably produce corresponding fruit in your speech. Today, ask God to search your heart and reveal any toxic roots that need to be removed. Invite Him to plant seeds of love, grace, and truth instead, so that when you speak, life-giving words naturally flow forth.
