Day 2: Acknowledge the Battle, Then Look Up
Reading: Psalm 3:1-8; Ephesians 5:14
David did not pretend the enemies surrounding him did not exist. He named them plainly. But he refused to stop there. After acknowledging the weight of what he faced, he turned his eyes toward God and declared Him to be a shield, a source of glory, and the lifter of his head. This is the pattern of forward living. You are not required to deny your struggle, but you are called not to live there. In total darkness there are no shadows, but where there is a shadow, there is a light nearby. Whatever valley you are walking through today, look up. The Light of the world has not left you.
Reflection: Where have you been camping in a dark moment rather than passing through it?
Application: Write down one struggle you have been dwelling on, then beneath it write the name of God that speaks directly to that struggle. Meditate on His character rather than the circumstance.
