Day 1: The Inevitability of Offense

Reading: Luke 17:1-4

Jesus speaks plainly: offenses will come. This isn't a pessimistic outlook but a realistic preparation for life in a broken world. The question isn't whether we'll face offense, but how we'll respond when it arrives. Notice Jesus shifts the focus from the offender to our own hearts: "Take heed to yourselves." The trap isn't the offense itself—it's what we allow it to become within us. When we hold onto hurt, we give it power to shape our thoughts, poison our relationships, and distance us from God's purposes. Today, ask yourself: What offenses am I holding onto? Jesus calls us to radical, repeated forgiveness—not for the offender's sake alone, but for our own freedom. Forgiveness isn't weakness; it's the pathway to liberation from bitterness's prison.
